To start with, we first have to adapt ourselves from conventional farming to organic farming. Organic farming as itself suggests use of organic based products in the fields of agricultural occupations. These organic products starts from eradicating chemical based products be it fertilizers, pesticides, weedicides etc. The abundant and prolonged use of these products have made the natural soil's fertility to degrade to gain minimal outcome or product. These chemical based products showed promising results hence shifting people's attention towards it results. As so we now know it has starting showing its adverse effects on mankind from skin diseases, low immune system, early aging etc. Not only to humans but the soil itself is left barren and unproductive unless more amount of these chemicals are added. Apart from these, the microbes and soil organisms present in soil die thereby decreasing the oxygen exchange process.
To cope with these various problems scientists have come up with newly sustained processes to deal with soil infertility. The various processes and tips are as detailed below-
1. First avoidable phenomenon is soil erosion, which tends to wash away top fertile layer of soil. To avoid it it is convenient to plant grasses, specifically fibrous rooted grasses which prevents the rain water and high velocity wind currents to blow away top soil layer.
2. Use of organic manures which are prepared from animal dung, leftover food wastes, twigs, straws and various other biodegradable products.
3. Crop rotation is another aspect in agriculture which is adopted to not let deficiency of any particular mineral present in soil.
4. Mixing of soil with processed manures and compost.
5. One of the efficient and viable method is by covering top layer of soil with vermicompost, which not only increases fertility content but also increases moisture retentive property of soil. Hence making soil and plant root long duration of availability of water.
6. Preparation of own composts and manures which requires less space and efficient in time and money. And spreading the prepared compost in the entire agricultural field.
7. Better and rather useful way of using kitchen wastes than throwing out making it less valuable.
8. Vermicomposting can be done by suitable earthworms available very cheap in local KVKs( Krishi Vigyan Kendra).
